One Ghanaian evacuee from South Africa has passed away upon arrival at the Accra International Airport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced. In a statement dated August 14, 2026, the Ministry said the death occurred at 6:55pm. According to the statement, the Ministry is undertaking the formalities of informing the family of the deceased, and has arranged for the deposit of the remains at the Police Hospital for autopsy. The National Identification Authority (NIA) is set to create more than 120 employment opportunities as it expands the rollout of 24-hour Prestige Centres across Ghana. The legal vacation should not be interpreted as a period during which lawyers can unilaterally determine whether court proceedings will continue, Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has said.
